Welcome to the New Zeland Legal Information Institute (NZLII), a growing online legal resource. This page contains pointers to the information you are most likely to need when visiting NZLII for the first time.
Lawyers, Librarians, etc
You can browse the full
list of databases available on NZLII page and then
select a specific court, tribunal, journal, law reform or legislation database in
which you are interested. Alternatively, you can use the
Advanced Search page to search by individual
database (eg only High Court decisions), by jurisdiction or by other grouping.
If you can not find it on NZLII, try looking in the
WorldLII Catalog
(includes New Zealand Law). If
you know the name of the document you are after you can use the tables of contents
and indices. Otherwise, see Search Help for information
on using the NZLII search engine.
Non-Lawyers, Students, etc
You may prefer to get background information on the subject in which you are interested
from the WorldLII Catalog (especially the
New Zealand Law section for
commentaries and summaries).
You may also be interested in browsing the full list of
databases available on NZLII. Introductory information about
case law and
other materials may also be helpful. Use the
Search Help to get started with the NZLII search engine.
